The advantage of a buffer is silent switching plus, if it's well designed it has an (amp-like) high impedance input so the treble and volume loss caused by some pedals in bypass mode is avoided. Hi guys, I'm torn between getting a Boss TU-3 (buffered, and I like the display) or a Polytune 2 (true bypass, and I like the size). Here is my signal chain (I don't have all the pedals yet, so I can't "hear for myself" if a buffered or true bypass pedal would be better suited in my chain.
